Canyon granite wash conglomerates and sandstones have a total thick ness of about 450 feet 137 m and were derived from granitic rocks of the bravo dome. In certain plays the natural gas is found as deep as 17 000 feet. The colony granite wash is situated at the eastern end of a series of des moines age granite wash fields that extend along the southern flank of the anadarko basin approximately 60 miles into the texas panhandle. This decades old tight sands play about 160 miles long and 30 miles wide covers parts of western oklahoma and the texas panhandle and horizontal drilling there has produced some exceptional rewards lately.
